While the STARBoard has always been well received in market, there has been customer feedback suggesting it would be a great improvement if there was a way to remove the Armrest which becomes redundant when using the STARSupport during left arm procedures.
In order to support you and your needs better, we have decided to proceed with design changes that will improve the operator's experience. The changes will also improve serviceability and access to the screw under the Armrest.
Market Feedback
With the relative bulk of the Armrest taking up valuable space beside the patient during left arm procedures, there is a risk of collision with the image detector. As the Armrest is not required after radial artery access has been achieved, it would make sense to remove it after the STARSupport is installed.
Design Improvements
To help reduce C-arm obstruction and to improve usability, we have redesigned the Plastic Slider of the STARBoard, introducing a quick release feature that allows easy removal of the Armrest during left arm procedures.
The Plastic Slider will change to blue to indicate that it is a removable component.
We are also improving visibility of both Thumbscrew Wrist Pivots and Thumbscrew parts by changing their colour to blue, highlighting these joints as a reminder that their friction should be adjusted to suit procedural requirements.
